Retirement tax questions

If you are looking at your W-2, it may have one or more codes in box 12, with dollar amounts.  These codes can indicate many different things.  If you have codes on your W-2, pick the right code in the program and enter the dollar amount.  If you have more than one code, enter them one at a time.

It doesn't really matter what the codes are, Turbotax knows what they are for.

Incidentally, an IRA is never going to be on your W-2.  If you have a qualified workplace retirement plan (such as a 401k, 403b, or 457 plan), then you may have codes and dollars associated with your plan participation. They need to be reported in the program.  Just pick the codes and copy the dollar amounts.  But an IRA would be a private account with a bank or broker, and would not be on your W-2.
