Retirement tax questions

If you make an experimental entry by marking the Maximize box for a 401(k) contribution but then decide that you are not going to make that kind of contribution, you cannot just subsequently answer No when TurboTax asks if you made such a contribution.  Answering No will not remove your previous entry since the only purpose of this question is to give you access to the page where the entry was made.  (If you already have made 401(k)-related entries, TurboTax should just skip this question and go straight to the entry page, but it doesn't.)  You must instead tell TurboTax that you did contribute to such a plan and then explicitly unmark that Maximize box and remove any other entries on that page.

You can also remove all of your self-employed retirement entries and start over with your self-employed retirement entries by simply deleting the Keogh, SEP and SIMPLE Contribution Worksheet.
