Retirement tax questions

If you are required to receive an RMD distribution, any 1099-R you received should include the RMD amount (although that is not specifically stated on the form).

The plan administrator is responsible for seeing that your RMD is properly distributed.  For a standard pension sent monthly...it's still an RMD, and all of it is an RMD.....you just have no control over it.  The issuer is responsible for ensuring it meets the proper IRS guidelines

When you enter your 1099-R in TurboTax, indicate that 'all of this distribution is RMD'.

The IRS has no way to determine what amount of your distribution is RMD; they only know that your distribution included it (if required to be taken).

Here's more info on RMD.
