Retirement tax questions

It is not required to mail 1099-R forms if you file electronically.   If the IRS reviews some aspect of your return or if the information you entered does not match what they have on file, they may request additional information or documents.    But you are not expected to mail copies of forms when you e-file.   The issuer of your 1099-R already sent the IRS a copy, so there is likely a discrepancy between the form and how it was reported on your tax return.   

 

You said this is the 2nd time.   What was the problem the first time?    Are you sure you entered the form or did they adjust your refund in any way?     @cmtn
