Cannot file my federal return. Hang up regarding form 1099 DIV box 7 (Foreign Taxes Paid). Amount of $14.00 imported from brokerage account (Vanguard). Want to claim credit instead of deduction. When I run smart check, software queries me re: entries in box 7 of the Turbo Tax generated form 1099 - DIV. Says form 1116 copy should be entered. No form 1116 is required since tax paid is less than $300.00. On my brokerage generated 1099 - DIV, N/A is entered into BOX 8. When I attempt to enter (not applicable) from software generated pull down menu into Box 8 of the Turbo Tax generated 1099 - DIV, it does not accept that choice as a valid entry & leaves the field blank. Dividends were generated through mutual funds owned in brokerage account managed by Vanguard (RIC - Regulated Investment Company). What do I do to correct this? Cannot file until this error is rectified. Any recommendations?
