I received a 1099 R from my mother's death.

Box 1 states the gross distribution of $5000.00

Box 2A is Taxable amount $5000.00

Box 4 is Federal income tax withheld $500.00

Box 7 is flagged with code 4 death benefit. 

Do I report this on my return and is it considered income or an inheritance?
