Retirement tax questions
TurboTax does not necessarily consider your 1099-R as an IRA.
- On the 1099-R there is a check box that indicates if this document represents an "IRS/SEP/Simple".
- There is then a follow up question asking if the box is checked.
- The remainder of the interview focuses on how the 1099-R is taxed.
- For instance, it asks if this is a qualified or a non-qualified plan. An IRA is a qualified plan, and an annuity would be a non-qualified plan.

- On the left sidebar
