Im over 70 and have social security and income of $23000 from a part time job. Why does turbotax say i owe over $2200 in federal income tax?

Im over 70 and have social security and income of $23000 from a part time job. Why does turbotax say i owe over $2200 in federal income tax?
SS allows me to earn a certain amount before tax is payable I think. Is that correct?
