Retirement tax questions

If you take an early distribution from your Roth IRA ( before age 59 1/2 or less than 5 years from the date the account is opened), the earnings part of the withdrawal is subject to taxation and also subject to a penalty of 10% (of the earnings). The contribution part is not taxed or subject to penalty.
