Retirement tax questions

These forms would be in your possession. They are, respectively:

  • Form W-2: The form received from your employer(s) reporting your wages and taxes withheld;
  • Form W-2G: The form you receive to report gambling and lottery winnings and taxes withheld;
  • Form 1099-R: The form received from banks, brokers, or former employers reporting retirement distributions and taxes withheld.

Are you filing your IL-1040 by mail? The information that you have entered into TurboTax from these forms is usually sufficient for most state purposes. If you e-filed your state tax return, I would suggest not mailing any forms to your state unless you receive a letter specifically asking for them. If you are filing by mail, attach the state copy of each to your state tax return.
