Retirement tax questions
You are not required to report your 1099-NEC in detail on your tax return in TurboTax. To resolve this error you should delete the 1099-NEC entry and add the income directly to your Schedule C. To do this in TurboTax Online you can follow these steps:
- Within your return in TurboTax Online search for 1099-NEC.
- Click the Jump to link in the search results.
- Delete the 1099-NEC line with the trash can icon.
- If you get to the question Did you have any self-employment income or expenses? answer Yes and enter your income amount with a description of your choosing (this label does not show up on your return anywhere)
- Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen.
- Click on Delete a Form.
- Scroll down to your 1099-NEC and click Delete if it is still there.
