Retirement tax questions

Social Security is not always taxable.  If your other income plus half of your social security is less than $25,000 (if you are single, $32,000 married filing a joint return), then none of your social security is taxable.

You should see your non-taxable portion of your social security on line 5a and your taxable amount (if any) on line 5 b of your 1040.

To see your 1040 click Tools>>.Tax Tools>>>View Tax Summary>>>Preview My 1040.
