Retirement tax questions
You're likely not doing anything wrong. I think it's a glitch. Same thing with mine, continually said "needs review." Under "tax tools" in the left hand side of the screen, go to "tax summary." Then on the left hand side look for "preview 1040" (or something like that). Then check to see if the amount that you need to pay back this year (should be the same amount as on your 8915E from last year if the distribution you took was in 2020) was added to your income. If so, you should be in good shape. If you're still unsure, continue all the way through the review until it gets to the part where you can download or view your tax return before filing (don't worry, you still haven't paid at this point, or filed). Mine wouldn't let me view them on the pop-up screen, but it did download it to my PC as a pdf and I was able to scroll down and see that it had been included in my income and that there was an 8915 form included with the correct amount. Since it was showing everything correctly, I went ahead and e-filed, and both fed and state were accepted shortly after. I hope this helps as I was utterly confused as well!
