This was it, thanks! I also got confused and thought I either needed to enter 0 or leave it blank, thinking it was entirely about the checkbox. Repeating the same value in that line 17 about the checkbox and the other line 17 seems to have fixed the problem. While the income doesn't show up on the income summary, the right fields are showing up on the 1040 preview and the refund estimates updated, so I think I'm set.
