If you are referring to 1099-NEC (instead of 1099-NEW), that form is used to report non-employee compensation.  

 

If you are receiving a Form 1099-NEC, you are being treated as an independent contractor by the company paying you and you need to file Schedule C for your self-employment income.  Simply entering the information on the Form 1099-NEC is only the first step.
