Retirement tax questions
No. You should use the correct state when entering your Form 1099-R. Keep this information with your tax records. You are not required to pay tax in NY since you never lived there and the retirement is not NY income. Hopefully you will be issued a corrected form that you can keep with your return.
Be prepared to explain if necessary, however the key is to report and pay the tax where required, and for you that is ME.
If you did have NY state tax withheld you would want to file a NY nonresident return to obtain a refund.
