Retirement tax questions
Adding a 1099-G for unemployment is adding taxable income to your return. If you didn't have any tax withheld from your unemployment benefit, it can change your return quite a bit.
For tax year 2020 only, the first $10,200 of unemployment was not taxable. This was done because so many people lost their jobs, or couldn't work for a while, because of Covid-19.
