If I make a contribution to my Roth IRA for 2020 after filing my 2020 taxes. Will I need to amend my 2020 return? If so, what information will I need to do so?
I was not making enough in 2020 to be contributing to my Roth IRA. Early 2021 I began a new job and recently realized I should be able to max out my contributions for this year with money to spare. Thus, I would like to make some contributions to my Roth IRA prior to April 11th so they can be classified as part of my 2020 contributions. However, I cannot find if this will require me to amend my 2020 tax return that I previously filed. If I will need to amend it, what information will I need to have for that?
I intend to contribute at least half of the maximum amount I can contribute for the 2020 tax year, and may try to contribute the maximum amount if I think my current budget can handle the strain in the short term.
