Yes. The Home Heating Credit (instructions at this link) is a way the State of Michigan helps you pay some of your heating expenses if you are a qualified Michigan homeowner or renter. You should complete the Home Heating Credit Claim MI-1040CR-7 to see if you qualify for the credit. You can click the link for details about who may eligible for the credit.
Using the link above, you should review the examples on page 5 to determine your standard allowance. The alternate credit is explained on page 6.
When you are in the Michigan (MI) return continue through the screens until you reach 'Take a look at Michigan credits and taxes'.
- Select Home Heating Credit (click the Learn More link for additional information) > Start/Revisit
- Answer any questions related to your Household Resources
- Continue to answer the questions
