Retirement tax questions
This information can be found where you entered the social security income. To return there, follow these steps:
- From inside TurboTax, in the search box, enter social security income and
- Click the Jump to link in the search results.
- Check what has been entered to make sure it matches what you received on Form SSA-1099.
This is likely referring to Form 1040 page 1, Box 6a, the total entered, which should be Box 5 of your SSA-1099, and Box 6b, which is automatically calculated based on how much other income you are reporting. It is the portion of the social security that is taxable.
