I called the TurboTax customer service number at [phone number removed] and they were able to walk me through how to e-File my Federal Tax Return while "saving" my New York State Tax Return for later until the system is updated (you need to click on the "File by Mail" option after you get the error screen and it leads you to a page where you can choose which returns to file and how/when). The representative I spoke with could not figure out what the issue was with the New York State return and indicated that it is actually New York state that is the cause of the issue (of course). They were unable to give me a timeline for when that will be resolved. Fortunately for me I owe NY and am getting a positive refund from the Fed so I don't mind waiting on the state return.
