Retirement tax questions
No - under the CARES act, you do not have to take your required minimum distribution (RMD) for 2020.
If you had a distribution(s) from your IRA, you can indicate that it was NOT an RMD
- A few screens after the 1099-R entry screen you will see a screen, How much of the $XX was a RMD? Mark the radio button, None of this withdrawal was a RMD and click Continue.
- On the screen, Tell Us More About This Retirement Plan Distribution, mark the radio button that you were not required to take an RMD for 2020 and click Continue.
