I think this is a flaw in the TurboTax SW. The problem I see is that even though there is a 1099-R, we are supposed to say that this is not an RMD and that in turn would not change the 8606. But the problem as I see it is if you do that, then I question whether the 8606 will transfer as is to 2021 taxes. There should be a better approach to handling this situation.
