Should I attempt to offset larger unrealized gains in non-retirement stock index funds so far this year by smaller realized losses from earlier in the year. If so, how?

Was spooked by COVID and moved from higher to lower risk Vanguard funds briefly. Losses incurred then are smaller than unrealized gains since moving back to higher risk.
