Retirement tax questions

If the account is still in your spouse's name, then you probably need to file an estate tax return, which requires a completely different version of Turbotax and can't be done online.  You may want to see an accountant.

With a spouse's 401(k), you have the option of doing a rollover or transfer into an IRA in your name, then the money is yours.  Contact the plan administrator.  If the account has more than one beneficiary, then you are required to distribute the money to them as well.  (You may be the only beneficiary, the laws requires you can't be less than a 50% beneficiary unless you agree in writing.)

If you already did a transfer into a beneficiary IRA in your name or your own IRA, just enter the 1099-R in the usual way.
