Thanks for the detailed explanation that is very helpful. I guess I still didn't make my question completely clear. What I did is backdoor Roth IRA, basically contribute to after-tax traditional IRA and immediately convert it to Roth IRA. There is no tax implication involved here and simply need to report this contribution to IRS. In this case do I need to file an amendment or it's okay to mail a standalone 8606 form to IRS? Thank you
