I had no capital gains in 2018 and did not fill out a Schedule D but TurboTax shows $4043 of capital gains on line 13 of Schedule 1. Where does this number come from?
I would like to know how Turbo Tax generated this number for capital gains to determine whether it is a mistake or not. Is there any way I can find out?
Ok - ignore my question, I found the answer. I dug some more and found out it came from input on my 1099-DIV.
