The Rental section can seem a bit tricky.

If this is the first year, you need to add the property (type, cost, date purchased) in Property Profile

THEN go to the Rental and Royalty Summary screen and select EDIT

Now scroll down to Income, then next Expenses

 

Continue through this interview and you should see a "Your Profit or Loss Results So Far" screen

Continuing again you can view the year's summary for the rental 

 

This may or may not affect your tax due or refund shown at the top of the screen. THAT number is based on your entire return, not just your rental.
