To clarify, I had already filled in the form with Blank as the response for this field in the form the first time I filled it out in the tax return preparation process. This issue arose when the program was doing a final check of my return before proceeding with submitting it to the IRS. The data check process flagged two of my 1099-B forms for this same issue. When you click on the “Learn More” button next to the line in TurboTax, an explanation opens up that clearly states that Blank is one of two acceptable responses. And the dropdown options for the response field contains Blank as one of the two response options available. When I obtained help via a phone call to Support, the solution was to simply click on “Continue” to proceed without responding to the two flagged issues. This submits the tax return with the original response of Blank in the field in question. This worked, and my tax return was successfully transmitted to the IRS.
