------------------------------------------------------------------------
Re-started Turbotax
Your return was rejected for E-File because the rental information is incomplete.
On the screen
Did you own or rent your Vermont home.
If you rented for more than 6 months mark the button that applies.
If you own your home and pay lot rent, select Owned home as of December 31.
I selected 'Owned home as of December 31. There was no other option.
Turbotax seemed to construe this as "own your home and pay lot rent"
There was no Turbotax option to simply 'own your home'
Accordingly, I could not avoid going here, (see below) but could not provide renter information, since I do not rent.
TT:  Then go to the screen Renter Credit claim mark Yes. Verify location of Rented property. On the next screen Required information complete the SPAN number and number of months rented. Continue and complete the state return. Go thru the interview be sure to enter the SPAN number and household income then transmit for E-File. However, if the reject continues, you may want to file this return via U.S. Mail. To file your state return, print it and mail to the appropriate taxing authority.
It would seem that TurboTax included a marker in the submitted return that would indicate that I was making a claim as a renter, whereas in fact I could not provide the 'renter' info.
The return was then rejected by the state of Vermont
