Rent you pay for your primary residence, 2nd home or any other "personal use" property is not reported anywhere on the federal return. It's not deductible. However, if your state taxes personal income, some states have a "renter's credit" based on the rent you paid during the tax year. You won't be asked about that until you complete the federal return and are working on the state return.... and only if the state offers such a credit.
