Taking depreciation on rental property is not an option. You are required to depreciate rental property by law. So if you did not depreciate in the past when it was classified as rental property, you have a major legal tax problem. I would highly suggest you seek professional help, because the cost of fixing this *will* *not* *be* *cheap*, but it will be more costly as more time passes without you fixing it.
