After filling in dividends from 1099-DIV I am asked if any of these uncommon situations apply. The first one is: A portion of these dividends is US Government interest. Attached with my 1099-DIV is Supplementary Information that shows Percentages of income from US Government Securities. For each of the funds there is a Fed Source Total. Most of the totals show the agency as Other Dir.Fed. One shows the agency as US Treasury and Student Loan.
Based on the info above, do I check the box that states: A portion of these dividends is US Government interest?
