No, you should not put charitable contributions in the rental section of TurboTax.

Charitable contributions are part of the Deductions and Credits section of TurboTax.  In this section you put:

Mortgage Interest,

Property Taxes,

Charitable Contributions

Medical Expenses

State Income Taxes Paid

This gives TurboTax the information it needs to decide which deduction is greater for you the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions.

For 2019 the Standard Deduction for someone filing as Single is $12,200, Head of Household $18,350 or Married Filing Joint $24,400.
