You could allocate across all 10 properties, but the easiest way is to enter the vehicle expense under 1 rental property.

This will skew the expenses for that one property on Schedule E, however because the total of all 10 properties expenses (line 20 of schedule E) are listed as one total expense on line 23e, the net effect is the same w/o the hassle of allocating. To enter in your return:

  • In your open return, select My Account
  • Tools
  • Topic Search
  • Type 'schedule e' in the box, then select GO

Click through the first few pages until you land on the Rental and Royalty Summary for your previously entered property and select edit. On the Review Rental Summary page, scroll down to bottom and select start/update next to Vehicle Expenses.
