Regarding the Vermont LC-142 Renters Rebate:
LC-142 is a receipt from a land lord as per Vermont Law
that is given out, automatically if they own two or more residential
rental units, or upon request if they own one residential rental unit.
You enter the data found on LC-142 on FORM PR-141 -- which is a Renter Rebate Claim form for the state of Vermont. If
you qualify this Vermont tax rebate, you will be prompted to enter
this data during your interview under your State Taxes section of
TurboTax under Renter Rebate Claim
You may be eligible for the Vermont renter rebate if you have:
- resided in Vermont for the entire 2015 calendar year
- rented in Vermont for all 12 months (see box below for one exception) and
- met the household income requirement. The maximum renter rebate amount for 2015 is $3,000.
All renter rebate claims must be paper-filed, even if you file your taxes online. You may submit this claim separately from your Vermont Income Tax Return No claims will be accepted after Oct. 17, 2016.
In TurboTax, after you complete your Federal return, start your Vermont state return. Proceed through the program until you see the asking if you “rented” and follow the program prompts. Refer to the TurboTax Vermont instructions included in your return on how to file.
