Rental property damage is reported in section B of form 4684.
To find the form:
- In desktop, it is in the forms list.
- Online, go to tools, topic search and select 4684.
You will add the new roof as a new asset. You will not change the depreciable basis of the house. If you had the old roof already segregated, then you would remove the old roof. Otherwise, you don't do anything.
