When you change something on the federal return, it may not get re-imported to the state return unless you completely delete the state return and start over. 

 

For anyone seeing this in 2025...4 years later Intuit still hasn't bothered to fix this bug. I just wasted 2 hours trying to figure out where this erroneous 3885A was coming from, & apparently it's because although the State form supposedly pulls its data from your Federal entries, its not smart enough to...umm...pull the data from your Federal entries. Despite the error check claiming your return is "error free", it actually has errors that you're responsible for finding yourself, and the only way to fix it is to completely delete all the work you've done on state, and do the whole thing again.

 

Really instills a lot of confidence in their "error-free guarantees", doesn't it.....
