If you didn't receive a 1099-B for the sale of inherited stock, you can still report it in TurboTax in the 1099-B section. Here's how:
- Sign in to TurboTax to ensure link in Step2 works:
- Navigate to the 1099-B section:
- TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to 1099-B or go to magnifying glass at top right of screen and search for 1099-B and select the Jump to link.
- TurboTax Desktop: Search for 1099-B and select the Jump to link.
- Follow the onscreen instructions. When you reach Let's import your tax info, choose how you want to enter your 1099-B:
- Choose Enter a different way, then select your investment type (stock) on the next screen.
- On the following screens, answer the questions about your sale of untreated stock
- Answer NO to Did you buy every investment
- In the drop Down How did you receive the stock - select i inherited it.
- When you reach the Review your sales screen, the form you just entered should be listed.
