Yes, he will have to file an OK non-resident tax return since his income is over $1,000. Yes, the income will end up on line 1 of Form 511-NR.
Non-residents aren't required to file if their Oklahoma income is less than $1,000. Refer to the Oklahoma Tax Commission website File Taxes. He will have to file a return to get his refund.
In the Personal profile section, he needs to indicate that he made money in another state so TurboTax will list the non-resident tax return when he gets to the states section.
Also review the instructions for 2024 Oklahoma Inividual Income Instrucions for Nonresidents.
After he completes his federal tax return and he moves to the State Taxes sections, both his non-resident and resident state returns will be listed. Prepare the nonresident (OK) tax return first.
