To report your stock sale as an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) transaction do not import your Form 1099-B. Enter it manually, by indicating "I will type it in myself". After you enter your broker's information (Name & EIN) the next screen will say: "Tell us about the sales on your [Broker Name] 1099-B". The first question is "Do these sales include any employee stock?" Indicate Yes. I recommend, as does the program, that you enter your sales one by one. On the "Now, enter one sale..." Select the type of transaction (should be Long Term, basis reported to the IRS), and then for "What type of investment did you sell?" Select Employee stock purchase plan (ESPP).
Enter the information for your transaction. On the next screen, indicate you don't have your cost basis and need help. The program will guide you through entering the sale of your ESPP stock.
