Thanks for the link but it is not feasible for someone who only needs to file one (or a few) 1099-NEC. According to the instructions it can take 45 days to get the IRIS number and the form is due by January 31, 2024.
I found the efileforbiz.com website and for $4.75, I completed the 1099-NEC online and they filed it with the IRS and sent via US MAIL and email to the contractor and confirmed via email the date it was mailed. I will also receive a confirmation from Efileforbiz when the IRS accepts the filing.
It was quick and easy and a great customer service.
