My son receives SSI. He lives with my husband and I. To help with expenses, he gives us money each month. Does that money he gives us each month have to be reported to the IRS? Wouldn't that be the same as a "roommate" helping with expenses? Or "not rented for profit"? When searching online, I'm getting two different answers. Thanks.
