I had the same issue. What worked for me is that I kept going with the return. Later in the form, I believe under business expenses and income, The program all of a sudden dumped my directors fees in that category, rather than under the 1099 – MISC. I don’t know if it will do the same thing for you, but I would suggest just keep going and then check back to see if the amount was entered in a different category. It is somewhat confusing – – or was to me – – but if you click on the little information line on the 1099 – MISC category it does tell you to wait and see if it throws it into another category to avoid double entries. I am not sure why they do it that way, but then that is why I’m using TurboTax. I’m not an accountant, and don’t even play one on TV. I hope this helps.
