Investors & landlords

FL does not tax personal income. So there is no state tax form to file for any rental income realized from the inherited rental property.

However, if the property is furnished, you may need to file a DR-405 with the local property tax appraiser of whatever county the property is located in. If it's a short term rental (such as VRBO or AirB&B some places in FL require you to be registered as such with the county, city or local township. For example, in my down, short term rentals located within the city limits of St. Augustine are required to be registered same as a hotel, and they have to deal with yearly inspections by both the city and the fire department. Failure to follow the rules can (and will) result in some hefty fines.
