Investors & landlords
Ditto your comments, @Skyskier1 . This thread is now at 18 pages so you think the issue would get some priority now that we are only about 2 weeks from the filing deadline. Fidelity is one of the largest brokerages in the US and very popular among folks who manage their own investments. Likewise, TurboTax is the largest online tax software provider, and is in no way lacking the resources to fix this issue. There would have to be a breakdown somewhere in management -- the folks that give the programmers their assignments / deadlines.
I did the online version work around in the event they do not get it fixed for desktop. So I have a return that I can file, but basically I had to do my taxes twice. It's a complicated return and I found their online software clunky and less flexible than the desktop product. Lack of a "forms" mode in the online version is a huge negative for folks that are tax savvy. But in the end I was able to replicate the return I did in TT desktop, and the Fidelity import of about 2,000 stock sales (the dreaded 1099-B) did work.
Can TT offer us any reassurance that this will be fixed in the next software update?
