Investors & landlords
Yes, you are in the right spot. The form that is being "attached" is Schedule D, not any type of 1099. Sales of all types of capital assets are reported here, including real estate.
This is how to report the sale of a second home in TurboTax online:
- Select Federal from the left side menu.
- Select Wages & Income.
- Scroll down and look for Investments & Savings.
- Expand the section and find Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other and click on Start or Update to the right.
- Click + Add investments at the bottom.
- Click Continue.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Enter a different way.
- Select Other (1099-S), click Continue.
- Enter a description and click Continue.
- Select Second home form the first drop down.
- Fill in your information about the sale.
