Scholarships in excess of tuition are taxable income.
Although you claim your daughter as a dependent and rightly claim her education expenses, if the scholarships reported in box 5 of form 1098-T are greater than the amount of tuition reported in box 1, your daughter has to report the excess as Other income on her own tax return.
