Education
Yes, but only if it is a qualifying educational institution.
Educational expenses at a foreign university are deductible if the school is an eligible school. Please check this link before proceeding.
If your school is eligible, you don't need a 1098-T or an EIN.
To enter your education expenses (even if you didn't get a 1098-T):
- Log into your account and continue (if not already there).
- In the Search box (top right-hand corner), type “education”.
- Click on the Magnifying Glass icon.
- Click on “Jump to education” link high-lighted in Blue.
- Answer the Step-by-step instructions.
- Check "No" when asked if you received a 1098-T.
- Check on "I qualify for an exemption" when asked.
- Check the box for foreign address, so you won't need a zip code when it asks "Where did you go to school in 2018?"
- You can then enter all your applicable expenses. Be sure to convert to U.S. dollars
