You can only claim qualified education expenses like tuition, fees and other related expenses. Expenses that do not qualify are room and board, insurance, medical expenses, transportation and others. For more details visit IRS Qualified Education Expenses.
To enter your education expenses in TurboTax follow these steps:
- Login to your account
- Go to Tax Home and then Deductions & Credits
- Scroll down to Education Credits, select Edit
